Dr. Raul Zimmerman

Halifax Health - Hospice of Volusia/Flagler

Dr. Zimmerman is a graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in both Family Medicine and the new specialty of Hospice & Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Zimmerman has served on the faculty of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Halifax Health Medical Center since 1992 and served as its Program Director for 5 years. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Geriatrics, Florida State University College of Medicine. In his work with medical students and residents, he is always emphasizing the importance of listening carefully to patients and families and developing good communication skills.

Dr. Zimmerman has a special interest in Bioethics and has chaired the Bioethics Committee at Halifax Health Medical Center for a decade. He is frequently called upon to consult with the most challenging cases.

Dr. Zimmerman is the first full-time Medical Director for Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler and his entire clinical practice is now devoted to end of life care. He is proud of the medical team he has brought together to serve the patients in our two counties and works daily with that team to achieve the highest standards of clinical excellence.
