Ed Cooper Memorial Golf Festival
On Friday, April 24, 2009 the Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach hosted its 7th Annual Hospice Golf Festival. The Golf Festival supports the Traumatic Loss Program, which is funded completely by donations. Edward J. Cooper was the founder of the Hospice Golf Festival. He volunteered for the Traumatic Loss Program and it was one of his dreams that this program continue to help those who have suffered a traumatic loss. Sadly Ed died in January of 2009; the golf festival was renamed in his honer, The Ed Cooper Memorial Hospice Golf Festival. His legacy will continue and this year was a testament to the generosity of the community he lived in. This year's Festival raised over $70,000 bring the total money raised in the past seven years to over $500,000.
